Manual or Automatic? by ~DeXTrodiphen:iconDeXTrodiphen:

You can’t write a poem about masturbation.
Nobody at school could read it.
The society is too prudish and
they can’t stand to see the “M” word, it just
scares the pants off of them.

You really can’t write about what goes on
under the covers in a seventeen-year-old’s room
at night.
Everyone thinks it’s dirty
and shameful.

A poem needs description
and visuals of the action being performed.
You really just can’t get away with describing.

Sometimes that big moment of blissful release happens,
but sometimes… it doesn’t.
You might reach the “awesome oh my god” point of no return.
Well, you’d hope so, at least.

Most use the manual method,
others use helpers,
a friendly one is called “The Rabbit.”

You can’t write a poem about masturbation because
it wouldn’t come to most that it’s not all that shocking.
If you tried to write a poem about masturbation,
teachers and parents would protest…
Even though they go home and do it too.

You just can’t write a poem about masturbation.
It hurts the teenager’s poor virgin ears.
Well, at least they’d hope the words are falling on
virgin ears…

But isn’t relieving stress nice?
A great way to end the day from hell?
but parents would disagree.
“Not MY child!” they’d say
while forgetting their own teenage years,
and also forgetting their own “Mommy Daddy” time.

Writing a poem about masturbation
actually might be satisfying.
The shame pants would drop
and the embarrassment skirt would be lifted.
People would feel liberated
and have more  relaxation, with masturbation.
People would go solo, it’s the safest way to go!
if they would just write poems about masturbation.

there's a fine line between genius and insanity. I am right on the edge, in insanity, staring at geniusland.

"Better to be a pirate than to join the navy" -Steve Jobs

"Time spent wasted is not wasted time."

Thanks!

Maybe this isn't what you were going for, but the vibe to me is fun, flirtatious and relaxed, and slightly wistful that the world would just drop their trousers, lean over and say 'All Systems Go!'

That's pretty much what I was going for! I'm very serious about the subject, people are just too prude, but I wanted it to be funny and lighthearted. Thanks!

I like this poem a lot. It's really true, too. Awesome job. :)
